Symmetry Family Health is a primary care clinic that opened its doors in 2024.
Sandra Brown, APRN is the primary provider.

Sandra Brown, APRN, FNP-BC

Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified

Sandra Brown is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of experience working in the health care industry, including family practice and urgent care settings. She is currently running her independent practice, Symmetry Family Health, and is accepting new patients (ages 5+). Sandra received her Master’s Degree with a focus in Family Nurse Practitioner from Austin Peay State University. She is also board-certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Sandra was born and raised in Hopkinsville, KY and is married to Johnny Brown with 3 children. Sandra’s eldest daughter is a dedicated local nurse practitioner, while her middle and youngest daughters play vital roles within the clinic. Together, they bring the strength of family to every aspect of the care we provide. Sandra is also active in her church and enjoys spoiling her grandchildren. She is excited about practicing in her hometown and looks forward to helping her patients achieve balanced and sustainable health.

Sheila West

Medical Assistant

Sheila West has been by Sandra Brown's side as her medical assistant for over 4 years. She is a Hopkinsville native and is currently pursuing a degree in nursing, committed to expanding her knowledge and skills to better serve our patients. Sheila plays a vital role in ensuring a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors. Your visit will begin with Sheila gathering important information, such as your vitals and medical history, to help Sandra provide efficient, focused care. She also assists with procedures, reviews medications, handles lab work, and follows up with lab results to keep you informed. Whether in the exam room or behind the scenes, Sheila works diligently to support your health and ensure a seamless experience.

Receptionist

As the friendly face of our clinic, Addison Brown is often the first person you'll meet when you visit. She is the provider's middle daughter and shares a deep commitment to delivering the personalized, high-quality care you expect from a family-owned practice. Currently pursuing her nursing degree, Addy combines her passion for healthcare with exceptional service. Whether you have questions about the clinic or need to schedule an appointment, she is here to help ensure your experience is smooth and welcoming.

Johnny Brown

Office Manager

Johnny Brown brings his entrepreneurial experience to Symmetry Family Health as our office manager. Previously the owner of a successful automotive repair business (Brown Automotive, formerly B&H Automotive), he has fostered a deep commitment to serving the people of Hopkinsville for over 20 years. Now, he supports his wife, Sandra, by overseeing the clinic’s financial operations and addressing patient concerns with the utmost care and professionalism. Johnny is dedicated to ensuring that every patient receives the high-quality, family-focused care that defines our practice.

Gillian Brown

Doctoral Student, Visiting Lab Specialist and Web Designer

Gillian Brown is Sandra's youngest daughter, helping out part-time with lab work and website management while on break from school. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry from Western Kentucky University and is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Microbiology at Texas A&M University. Gillie is committed to staying at the forefront of scientific advances in medicine and communicates new ideas to best inform Sandra's practice. Her research specialty focuses on a new approach to fighting the antibiotic resistance crisis: bacteriophage therapy.

Annual Physical/Wellness Exam

Complete head-to-toe exam, optionally including vision screening, vital signs, review of chronic health issues, yearly lab work, and age-related screenings (mammograms, colonoscopies, etc.). Includes:
* Sports and school physicals
* Medicare wellness exams
* Regular annual physicals

Chronic Condition Management

Evaluate effectiveness of current treatment and adjust medication as needed. Routine follow-ups for chronic health issues including:
* Hypertension
* Type II diabetes
* Hyperlipidemia
* Hypothyroidism
* Allergies, reflux, and more...

Acute Sick Visit

In-house point-of-care testing to make a diagnosis and prescribing effective treatment. May require external testing (lab work, imaging, etc.). Management of acute illnesses or issues, including:
* Cough
* Ear Pain
* Sore throat
* UTI
* Rashes, and more...

Weight Management

Includes initial consultation, evaluating goals, reviewing medical history, obtaining labs if needed, starting a weight loss plan based on each individual's needs. We offer the best local pricing on GLP-1 (semaglutide) injections for those unable to obtain through insurance.

Anxiety & Depression

We manage general anxiety and general depression through routine follow-ups and medication evaluation. We will help outline the treatment regimen that best helps you, optionally including in-house testing through GeneSight to confirm which medications work best based on your DNA. Specialist referrals are available if extra assistance is needed.

STI Diagnosis & Treatment

We can obtain in-house urine and swabs to test for sexually transmitted diseases based on known exposure or presenting symptoms. Blood work is optional. Our tests include:

* HIV
* Hepatitis A/B/C

General Information

Do you accept walk-ins, or is it appointment only?

We do not accept walk-ins, but same-day appointments may be available. Please call our office to check if we have any same-day appointments open.

Is the clinic handicap-accessible?

Yes! Feel free to call in advance if you have any special requirements and we will do our best to honor them.

Appointments and Scheduling

How do I schedule an appointment?

Please call (270) 885-9995 during our normal working hours. Be prepared with the following information:
* Reason for your visit (check our Services tab)
* Insurance information (check our Insurances Covered tab)
* Card/payment information
* Current address

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring the following:
* Valid driver's license or other government-issued ID
* Payment method of choice
* Insurance card
* All current medications

What is your cancellation/missed appointment policy?

Our team's time is valuable, so appointments cancelled without enough time for us to schedule another patient must be compensated. Our fees are billed as below:
* Cancellation 24 business hours or more before scheduled appointment time = no fee
* Cancellation less than 24 business hours before scheduled appointment = $25 cancellation fee
* Missed appointment with no call = $25 no-show fee
* Arriving 15+ minutes late = provider's discretion, but typically appointment is cancelled + $25 no-show fee
Three or more missed appointments within 12 months is grounds for termination of services.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

No, not currently. We may offer telehealth opportunities in the future.

Billing and Payments

What payment types do you accept?

We accept cash, check, and card.

Do you offer services for uninsured patients?

Yes, we offer a flat rate of $100 (subject to change) for self-pay patients. Additional charges will apply if lab work is required.

Patient Care

Do you see pediatric patients?

We only see patients ages 5 and up.

How do you handle prescription refills?

It is the patient's responsiblity to notify us of your refill request with enough time (3 business days) for us to process it. Typically, the pharmacy will send us a refill request when you pick up your last refill. We normally go over any necessary refills during your follow-up visit. If you need a refill between visits, please contact us.

Do you offer vaccinations and immunizations?

We only offer the flu vaccine during flu season (September through March). We recommend going to your preferred pharmacy or health department to stay up-to-date on your vaccines.

What if I need a specialist?

Most specialists require a referral from your primary care provider, so please schedule an appointment with us so we can discuss your needs and what referral needs to be made.

Emergency and Contact

I have an urgent issue/emergency! Who do I call?

If you have life-threatening symptoms (chest pain, shortness of breath, symptoms of stroke, excessive bleeding, etc.) CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY.

How can I get in touch with Sandra Brown directly?

If you are an existing patient, you can send Sandra Brown a message through your AthenaHealth portal. Any other forms of contact (Facebook, personal cell, etc.) are not HIPAA compliant and will not receive a response.
If you are a new patient, another member of our team will gladly answer your questions or convey your concerns to Sandra Brown as needed.
